The ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ

and the bodily assumption of His mother, Mary

The Lord Jesus Christ rose from the tomb on the third day and, for the next forty days, performed many miracles. Then He ascended into Heaven so that the Holy Spirit could be sent to lead the Church. One of the magnificent signs of His mercy and lovingkindness is that His mother, the blessed virgin Mary, was spared the pain of death. She was assumed bodily into Heaven in a similar manner to Elijah and other saints who have exemplified remarkable virtue. Revere the Theotokos, Mary, and praise the King of Kings, Jesus Christ.
